Just one thing to note, and I haven’t been there in a few years. But make sure your next flight is from the same airport. They used to fly some domestic carriers from their old airport (DMK). I made that mistake once when I was traveling around

Landing in Bangkok? My fiancé and I did this back in April and it was hands down the shortest immigration line I’ve ever been through.
Upon arrival, you’ll walk to immigration and then collect your bags. You’ll exit the international terminal and walk essentially the width of the terminal to the domestic side. If you’re checking a bag, you’ll have to do so. Domestic security is quite quick and often handled essentially at your gate (or group of gates).
I wouldn’t do it with less than a 2hr buffer in case your inbound is late OR there’s lines somewhere. But with on time arrival, you’d have some solid downtime with a 2hr window
Yes BKK, and thank you. This was very helpful, we ended up doing a 3.5 hour layover just to give us a stress free trip.
2-3 hours is more than enough to be safe.
Any reason to spell Phuket the way you did?
Because I have fat fingers
Check if your inbound airline does bag transfer to your outbound. It may be possible to check your baggage through to your destination even on two different carriers and tickets.
Also, in a lot of international airports if you’re staying at the same airport you can transfer rather than exit and recheck. Look for a transfer desk to get your boarding card for your onward flight, but even if you can’t get it, I’ve often been able to get through just showing the reservation on my phone.
Depending on airport this could save you going through security again. Last few times I flew into BKK and out of DMK and stopped for a few days in BKK, so no idea if this works there, but it works in SIN, HND, NRT, HKG and others.
