Does anyone happen to be in or know anyone who is in the RUV alliance Angel Investment syndicate? https://ruvalliance.com/
We’re looking for angels who are familiar with investing through RUVs (a special purpose vehicle on Angellist) and specifically think the RUV Alliance could bring a lot of value.

… But I like to the two spaces. It looks cleaner and brings more separation to the sentences. So thanks for the update, but NO Thanks 🤪😂

45 and in addition to my subject matter expertise I’m also one of the resident technical editors. Multi billion dollar proposals end in my lap for final compliance as well as grammar and formatting edits. I was trained to use two spaces. I never ever use two any longer.
I’d say about 1/8 to 1/10 of the submittals that come to me use two spaces. 3-4 years ago it was closer to 1/4 - 1/2. People are coming around. Two is no longer necessary due to the physical amount of space allotted on the screen following the period; it used to be the same as a letter but it’s slightly more in digital “typeset.”
Languages evolve. Rules change. That is how things work. You have to actively choose to understand, embrace ,and change along with the new rules! When I learned about one space, it took me a beat to get used to it but I ultimately did. Until I did, I used “find/replace” to catch any mistakes resulting from my old muscle memory.
There are so many more important things to worry about. Typos, grammatically incorrect sentences, improper use of singular and plural possessive, etc. One space or two spaces is the least of my issues when I see bad writing.
Still do it. Can’t help myself. Takes more effort to unwind and things always look weird to me without the extra space.
I’m almost 47 yrs old and I stopped using two spaces years ago. Get with it people.
I’m 41 and never did this.
I’m 51 and I did, until I started using a computer.
I am 43, two space is a crime. My record is clean.
I can’t. It’s muscle memory at this point.
You can tell who are the boomers in this thread
I never even thought about how I only use a single space on my phone until I read this
I feel. I am 38 and stopped this a year ago.

I am 27 and stopped 2 spaces at 22
Over 37. It has always been one space for me.
38 and quit doing this in college. Journalism school showed me the way (AP style).
I just make the cut.
I’m 30 and I used to do this in elementary school

Under 37, but I was taught that in school and did it most of my life. At one point I just dropped it though and I’m not sure how/why.
Share your witchcraft, please! 😅
I’m 38 and was never taught this. One space gang!
32 and use one space! But I was also taught to use two spaces in elementary school.
1 space. I'm 40.
True.*
Type docs however you want, but understand the first thing any professional editor or designer will do is hit CTRL F and replace them all with single spaces (while grumbling at having to waste their time correcting your incorrectness).
* unless 1) you are actually typing on a typewriter using a monospaced font or 2) you are in the legal profession and the judge you are submitting it to wants it that way—the judge is wrong, but it’s not a battle to piss them off over.
Is this an American thing
I'm American and was definitely taught to do the double space after the period in my business classes in high school. I'm also 33 so it's not like I was learning on a typewriter either ...
But given that it says period and not full stop I'm guessing that the original post was meant primarily for Americans?
