Ask the hotel.
Everyone will just make a guess of what the charge is. That's why I said ask the hotel to be sure. This could just be a mistake.
Tbh sounds like a mistake. Please report back what they say
Reading the description of that charge, it seems like they’ve charged you for something used in the room. Did a quick Google search and didn’t find anything on echannel, but it says retail that’s what is driving my assumption - likely an error and they should be able to reverse it
I need to double check at check out, but I think I’ve figured it out - they swiped my card at check in and there’s been a pending charge for the room/resort fees that hasn’t gone through yet, but I thought that meant they had put the charge through at check in. After reviewing Expedia, my nightly rate was $365, so I think they held the charge on my credit card, but are putting the entire trip on the check out bill. I’ve never seen that done before so I was very confused 😅
I think I’ve figured it out - even though they swiped my credit card at check in, they must’ve only put a hold on the charge that was room + resort fees, but are charging everything in full at the end to include food/drinks. The price on my Expedia itinerary was $365/night so that can’t be a coincidence.
Rising Star
First you say you saw it when you checked out. Then you follow up with ‘you’ll have to see when you check out’?
It’s the bill they email the morning of your check out so you can dispute any charges, what are you questioning?
just ask….
Thanks!
OP I think you’re right - something similar happened to me where they billed x amount up front which turned out to be a temporary hold and then they subsequently billed the full amount at check-out. I’d monitor your bank statement to make sure you weren’t over charged but realistically that’s what happened.
Definitely double check later on to see what went through on your statement though just to be sure there wasn’t an error on their part.

Maldives?

I was thinking if Maldives, it could be related to the mandatory transportation cost tacked on to all stays but that’s obviously not the case in PR. Please give us an update when you find out. I’m genuinely curious.
