UK-based Engineer working in the housebuilding sector for circa 4 years, (I'm in my late 20s).

No formal qualifications past A-Level, but wanting to get something under my belt which my employer is willing to pay for.

Any advice on what course to go for? Thinking HNC then potentially HND, or a Degree in Civil Engineering, but I'm not sure how much this would benefit me, or whether there might be something more specific/relevant out there.

First year lit associate here. I had a tough time deciding between corporate and lit and chose lit because I wanted to litigate. Its only been a few months but I’m not enjoying the people or the work as it turns out (too many internal investigations and researching obscure issues, haven’t been on a single filed case yet). Extremely frustrated that after 4+ years and multiple asks, I’m not getting the in-field construction experience I’ve asked for. I know that my designs could be better if I could see how things are actually built but I get slapped in the face with “I need you in the office designing/drafting” or “there’s no budget to have you go out” and then sends an intern to inspect instead.
