Under IFRS, what’s the impact of deferred tax asset and liability in a scenario where you have a bargain purchase price (negative goodwill). Initially the negative goodwill will be recognized in PL as a gain and in case you have net DTA, for the balance sheet u will book DTA and for the PL the gain in PL would be reduced by the DTA amount. In case of net DTL, it will be the opposite, for the balance sheet u will book DTL and for the PL the gain in PL would be increase by the DTL amount.

If it’s a bargain purchase then there is no asset or liability recognised on the balance sheet for it to have any accounting/tax base or deferred tax impact.

How hard is everyone pushing their corporate clients to authorize nonresident assignees whose only 2020 US compensation was the value of their 2019 tax preparation?
My clients are pushing back on it this year, and I can't say I blame them. If I were in their shoes, I'd rather take the risk of not filing than the expense of filing again. From my own point of view, I don't really want to spend my time on such returns, either, even if the revenue and easy return are nice.

Dumb questions but genuinely curious:

1) Let’s say you’re a recent undergrad candidate with no internships on your resume. What’s the deciding factor that you’re qualified for Advisory vs Tax vs Audit? Is it school, gpa, etc.?

2) Why can’t you switch from Tax to another SL without having to pull strings? I understand that there’s a difference in tax vs book experience but why does the Accounting field gatekeep other SLs? It’s not like we’re incapable of learning other areas.

Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. Offer 1 - staff revenue accountant so reading contracts, speaking with the sales team and legal team, a lot of work at the end of the months to close books and reconcile transactions to make sure we are ASC 606 compliant. This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.
