I was interviewed with Tata Consultancy for service management profile and selected next day third party company named Techorbit called and informed that I was selected and they asked me to send aadhar n pan and for rest of the documents they told me once offer letter have been released I need to submitt rest of the documents, on 23rd June I was informed this things and they have been given DOJ to be 18th July till now I dont have offer letter. How much time I have to wait for offer letter. ??

When I was 10 and flew on non rev passes I remember I wasn't allowed to wear jeans. Rules were well known.

A1 They do. They've since clarified the policy. The random service rep initially responding via twitter botched the policy citation, but that's not atypical. Service reps (for any company) are notorious for not knowing the more obscure policies and deferring to something they do know. Are the rules for non rev passengers outdated? Yeah, probably. But those were the rules for these passengers and should have been known. That said, UA has completely screwed up the aftermath which is what resulted in this PR nightmare

Seems pretty straightforward to me. Blame the parent not the gate agent for enforcing their standards. Don't like the rules, don't play the game.
And OP, nonrev flying is a privilege, not a right. It's an ancillary benefit for airline employees, and, when they extend it to others, the onus is on the employee to ensure that their guests follow the rules.
