IMO Flights aren't the expensive part of traveling. Get a hotel cc and rack up points that way. Let your status get you the upgrades when you travel abroad.
There's an 80,000 miles + $50 statement credit UA card offer floating around and also targeted spending challenges to increase elite status. You should jump on those if you're committed to UA.
I've had the MileagePlus Explorer card (no lounge access) for my first two years because I wasn't doing much traveling. That might start changing and I travel internationally with Star Alliance every year. Tried looking into the Delta cc but seems like perks aren't as good. Might do the switch up to the Club card. Thanks for the inputs guys!
Free year is beyond that not
Lounge access has been clutch when I need to take calls or work at the airport (especially during delays leaving or getting back to Chicago). Definitely worth the first year to see if you use it regularly, assuming you get the fee waived.
I fly between Newark, Dulles, and O'Hare a lot, so there's almost guaranteed to be a delay. It's nice to have. Agree with D3
@D2 - when you're a family of 4 airline tickets do get pricy 😂
No foreign transaction fees
I was able to get the first year's fee waived since I have United status. If you can get that then definitely worth it in my opinion
I've been wondering the same thing. Mileage plus is the one that gets you access to the lounge right?
I love that card. I have had it for the past 4 years. Lounge access is great to have and I also rack up about 40000 bonus miles because of the card a year which comes in handy for personal travel. About $25000 a year in personal spend
