My base loc is Bengaluru, but currently I am not mandatorily required to work from office, and have been working from home since I joined Deloitte in July. Should I talk to my manager and go back to my hometown Kolkata and work from there? Staying in PG all day and working from here is not quite feasible for me. Suggest pls. Deloitte India

Hi Everyone !!!
This June I completed my 9 months at Career Level 12 and Sub Level 3 I.e, CL 12.3 at Accenture Operations. My Annual Talent Discussion and One-on-One with People Lead is complete as of last week.
I have 3 questions now :
1. When can I expect to move to 12.2 ?
2. What is the general hike I can expect ? And when it is reflected ?
3. When will be the variable pay will be paid out ?
Can anyone here help me with this performance cycle part ? I am really confused.

It's had the opposite effect on me. It's made me feel like work is invading my life. And it's also made me yearn for a job where I can WFH, shut down at 5/6pm and enjoy the remaining hours of summer daylight and not worry about having to sign back on that night.
That being said, not having to travel certainly gives some time back in your life, but I was already WFH usually 1-2 days a week (local west coast travel)

I like knowing that if I’m hitting a late night I can squeeze in a bit more sleep after because work is right by my bed.

I like having access to my nice appliances and not crappy back office coffee pots.

...and my bidet / super soft toilet paper. Not crappy single ply from client offices. My butt has never been happier.
My mental health is so much better and I’m still working 12 hours a day. That being said I am a single twenty something living by myself. so I completely understand it might be different for different people ( ex. Parents). Also I love that I can cook at home so much healthier.
What I’ve learned and honestly knew about myself after physically and mentally being in a rut from a long travel project ( it wasn’t even a bad project). Travel isn’t for me so either need to exit or look for consulties that do more remote work or <25% travel 😬
That opinion is only unpopular with folks who either didn’t build much of a personal life for themselves or are trying to get some time away from their families. Both are legitimate reasons for wanting to be on the road and I’m not hating on either. Uncle D should make travel optional and staff a project with a mix of folks wanting to travel and those wanting to work from home.
Your personal life isn’t just who’s in your home? I kept in touch with my friends by calling and FaceTiming. Yeah physically I can’t see them but i still consider that my personal life as well as my hobbies ( aka giving up on my at home workouts 5 minutes in haha)
Agreed with most of what is said above. Logging back on at night isn’t too stressful because my laptop is right next to my bed/kitchen/living room. I feel like I have more control over my time.
I’d prefer to travel the way I was previously at 50%. I think that’s a decent middle ground.
I see my kids 300% more. I’ll trade frequent flyer miles and a little less hectic workdays for that any day.

I love wfh over travel. But, I am continuously exhausted and unable to manage time.
I love WFH. Still get everything I need done, still productive, still interact with my team but not lonely at night alone in a hotel room or stuck in a conference room for hours with poor air circulation or stuck at airports due to delays. Mental sanity is better, health is better, appreciation for the job is higher.
Hoping remote work is a larger part of how we work in the future.
WFH has had the opposite effect on me. Every day has been 12-16 hours straight. Since everything is still closed, there’s nothing to do besides work and you’re expected to be available at all times. Hard to push back when unemployment is so high, and I’m thankful to be collecting a paycheck.
This would all be manageable if we did fun things as a team or company (the monthly one-hour zoom Happy Hour is no substitute for a team dinner/outing or a Friday afternoon networking event/Happy Hour).
This experience has made me realize that I joined consulting for the people and network, and when you take that all away and only leave the work, there’s not much to be excited about.
Same!
