Love the delta fan boys touting another declining legacy airline in a city that makes no sense unless you’re only flying to Detroit or Atlanta.
Eh, if you were logically consistent you’d acknowledge that LAX is a pretty minor hub for AS and not really comparable (AS is also a pretty small airline), especially given your false and silly assertions about DL’s non-fortress hubs being minor (e.g., at LGA/JFK DL serves many more destinations than the other airlines there, BOS is continuing to grow rather than shrink as AA is doing there and in NYC).
But again it also comes down to simply having the self respect not to give AA one’s business.

Where do you live? That’s most important. You’d never choose Delta in DFW or AA in Atlanta.
Can confirm! Super easy to get upgrades with american from SFO. Plus JetBlue is the superior product (Mint) to travel transcontinental but rack up all the miles with American
United has more space and TVs (I think). Surprised to see so much Delta
Never had a tv on United 😭
Delta flights are not as plentiful as AA flights. Dallas is a AA hub. It’s not the best, but for flying in and out of Dallas, you’ll have more options in flight times. I only have AA points because I live in Dallas and I need the flexibility of flight times.
For Dallas AA is by far the easiest airline to rack up miles. However, echoing everyone here Delta the by far the better airline. Your choice.
Home base is key as everyone has said, but some other things to consider:
-DL consistently wins best US carrier awards, but their points are nearly worthless in all but very rare circumstances.
-AA has the youngest fleet and most extensive route network but has pretty poor award redemptions to Europe as a whole (via OW), probably the best redemptions to Asia.
-UA has the strongest award redemptions to Europe (via *A), but will have security drag you off planes and beat you like you owe them money.
-WN has companion pass and set value redemptions so wins on transparency, but you'll question your life choices after looking around at your fellow passengers.
-B6 is nice but I almost forgot to include them on this list, which tells you something.
You're right, I was lazy.

Depends on what airline uses your city as a hub and to a lesser extent what your preferred hotel, rental car, and credit card companies are along with international travel destinations
Also what level of program devaluation you’re willing to tolerate. Looking at you, Delta, with the new lounge access rules
That said, Delta because AA is garbage even if AA’s loyalty points are actually worth something more than a few nickels and an old can of ginger ale

Based in DAL/DFW with AA as my #1, Southwest for #2, United for #3. Sky Pesos have always blown.
They all suck in their own special ways. I miss TWA. Just sign up for all of them and follow The Points Guy

You would have to be out of your mind to choose delta:
1. Price is consistently 30%+ higher than other airlines these days
2. Not at a hub
3. Lounge access severely restricted starting February
4. Medallion qualifying numbers greatly increased
5. Points system is okay, not great. Million miler program is worse than any other
The answer would have been different pre-Covid, but it simply makes no sense anymore.
I’ve had status with all three and generally found DL’s service without status better than UA’s or AA’s with, though I only had low level status on the other two. They’re probably good for EXP/1K.
For me the biggest thing has always been reliability, though. I’ve had too many bad experiences on AA and UA, even when based at their hubs, to trust them.
