I'm pretty sure those types of questions during an interview is illegal.
I agree but I would not comment about it.

Rip I’m definitely getting a new compliance training off this post..
I would be suspect. I acknowledge that it could have been authentic, but I believe this is illegal.
It’s illegal and yes also prob comes from wanting to get to know the person. What will you personally get out of providing feedback? Esp since you’re not even part of the firm (yet or ever)
C1 - you’d say “No, I do not” and move tf on.
The data on mck 50 percent of partners have children. This is provided by the McKinsey health institute and openly accessible on the website. Refreshing data in my opinion.
I can’t comment on the degree in which you feel refreshed or lack thereof. However, it is refreshing from my perspective.
I've been asked if I'm married (and have kids). A terrible question to see if I can work long hours.

I get asked this all the time
In interviews?
I am a working mom. I was asked in an interview whether I could handle consecutive meetings because I have young children. I was also asked if I have family support so that I could perform an intensive consulting job. I was mad and I’m pretty sure the questions were illegal. These people need to be carefully trained to be an interviewer.
I wish more moms would answer these questions like this “ I spend my day with children. So, I am actually qualified to be “managing partner” at least! 😉
(Non mom here)
Well if you don’t get the job you can always file a report against them. That is illegal to ask, just like asking if you plan to have kids!
SM1 according to my friends in HR it is
Frowned upon - yes.
Illegal - no.
Having / not having children is not a protected category
