Speaking of corn cobs, D1, this is my 13 mo enjoying her corn on the cob
Grind up and make steel cut oats for breakfast, start with steamed and blended spinach or carrots. Avacado works too. My son loves sweet potatoes. I've heard say to start with veggies first because they aren't sweet.
Yup. Baby cereal good start. Just remember, it’ll be a long time before it’s actually nutrition
We went with baby led weaning. Not for everyone, but it worked great for us.
When you start it isnt really about them feeding, but more getting used to solid food
We started with blended fruits and veggies purees. Also baby yogurt after 6 months. Worked out great.
We are also at t months. Starting with vegetables. This is my 3rd kid. First one was all rice cereal 2nd one hated it. You never know! These little people have their own tastes even at this age
Most foods they won’t choke on are fine. Ease your way into the common allergens so if theres a reaction you know to what Avocados, beans, soft fruits/vege purees all good. You can even give them bigger things like corn on the cob to gnaw on. They can’t eat it obviously, but that’s ok, its too large to be a choking hazard and mine loved it
Also, for protein sources, in addition to beans, scrambled egg, ground beef (e.g., spaghetti sauce or taco meat), whole fat yogurt, and cottage cheese are all good too.
Keep in mind cereal is binding. Also, try and get them used to foods that are easy to get in restaurants avacado beans etc. that way if you are out it’s easy to find something for them to eat
The best part about introducing solid foods is that they will feel fuller at bedtime and start sleeping through the night consistently.
I always started with cereals then quickly moved to the pureed fruits and vegetables.
Is it ok to feed baby using spoon for almost all meals? He is 9 month and eats well but we don’t give him much of dry/finger food. The pediatrician said by 15 months he should be off purée but I don’t know if that means he should be eating by himself by then
*5* months
Thanks everyone for the great tips and advice!
Home made steamed carrots puree. Consider it just an addition to milk, not a replacement
