We just finished cataloging the demographic info for 57 big law firms focusing on Latinx attorney representation. Here’s a snapshot of the associate data. THIS IS NOT A PERFECT SYSTEM but we still find the information to be valuable. This was led by two Latinx attorneys (CLS 2020, HLS 2020). We comb through every attorney on every firms website over the course of months and made inferences based on affinity groups, posts about identity, bar association membership, 1 on 1 conversations and more.

Have you ever been told off by an older attorney of color? We have one Black partner at our firm and in conversation with him this morning he told me I should work on sounding and looking "more professional" and not let my "tone" or "bad attitude" get in the way. I don't think I've ever had a bad attitude at work, and whatever "tone" I'm speaking in it's my normal one. As a Black woman I just feel super weird about it and kind of sad.
