Don't buy desserts and delete uber eats from your phone.
Keep cut up fruit in the fridge to snack on
Figure out healthy things that will satisfy your sweet tooth but require a little work to make. Keep the ingredients around your house for when a craving strikes. For instance, I would slice up and microwave a banana and drizzle melted chocolate chips on top. I don't like eating chocolate chips by themselves, so they're safe for me to keep around the house. Sweet potatoes mashed up with cinnamon and drizzled with tahini also satisfy my sweet carb cravings. A protein shake with frozen banana, (healthy) protein powder, milk, cocoa powder, and a spoon of peanut butter tastes exactly like a milk shake.
I have no sweet tooth at all but instead struggle with salty / savory snacks
Absolutely same. Salt is my kryptonite
Have you tried stevia? 0 cal sugar substitute that’s natural/plant. I use that on berries or when I need a sugar fix instead of sugar. I’ve been able to mostly cut out candy by planning grocery shopping ahead of time and making sure I’m eating filling foods regularly so I’m not hungry. Managing stress is also important as low serotonin and stress = sugar cravings. I make sure to not drink coffee after noon, sleep 8 hours and exercise/meditate regularly. It’s a lot so start with one thing one day a week and then add 2 days a week next month, etc. to gradually build better habits
I have a sweet tooth as well. Best thing I found is Jello and Whipped Cream, which can be super low carb and low sugar for a dessert. Even if you just did sugar free jello + whipped cream would be even better. It’s also filling :) I would just go do the real sugar jello. Any decrease in sugar is better than nothing! Apparently there’s at home recipie a that are more “organic” but 30 cents a box for dessert for the whole week. Can’t beat it.
Apart from all the great suggestions above, try including few items in your diet like yam, yogurt set at home with raisins. These foods help with sugar cravings. Having a small jaggery ball made with ghee should also help with this!
It’s also called palm sugar in east Asian grocery stores
I have a huge sweet tooth too. I control it by eating mostly just fruit and just not buying any desserts at the grocery store. I also just stay away from delivery apps and try to cook as much as possible. Only times I don’t do this is when I’m on vacation or out with friends (only on weekends). Sometime I’ll eat for dessert is frozen bananas puréed with cocoa powder, or banana/almond butter/egg pancakes, or just a piece of dark chocolate. I like to bake too, but try to keep it paleo, eg use almond flour and honey. No flour or white sugar.
For me what works is actually allowing myself to have sweets, but plan it out. So rather than adhering to cravings, I know that on Friday nights I get to have a cupcake/some other dessert treat. I look forward to it and it helps me talk my self down when I'm craving something at other times. I wouldn't be able to go cold turkey 🤣
I think to echo what everyone else is saying find a healthier alternative. I don’t think depravation works, I always ended up binging with this approach. I try to avoid artificial sweeteners because they often raise your insulin and you end up craving more sugar so it becomes a cycle. I make dark chocolate covered fruit, i get 85% cocoa chocolate which is actually pretty good for you in limited amounts and mostly do chocolate covered berries. You can also do blended frozen fruit to get something similar to ice cream, my boyfriend does frozen bananas with berries and peanut butter so make “peanut butter and jelly” shakes.

Lots of great suggestions here and some new treats I am definitely going to try. Here’s one of my tried and true favorites. I chop an apple into bite sized piece and put it in a microwave bowl. Add about 2-3 tablespoons of water, some vanilla, some cinnamon and a packet of Splenda or stevia. Pop in the microwave for about 3 minutes . The apples cook and it tastes like the middle of an apple pie.
Love this!
Only addition to the other great suggestions — add some intentionality to the way you eat. Similar to how you’ve developed a workout goal and planned the activities you need to take to reach that goal (i.e. workout 6x per week), develop a similar plan for your eating. Remember that eating is fuel for your body and mind. Develop a plan and define metrics for success that you can follow, and when you inevitably miss / slip up on those metrics, understand that you are human and you are generally moving in the right direction. You won’t / shouldn’t (as others have said) cut out sweets entirely from your life but you can develop guardrails to keep you moving in the direction you want to go without falling off the wagon entirely.
Be intentional. Best of luck OP. You got this.
Monk fruit is zero sugar but tastes like sugar. Better than stevia
I have a major sweet tooth, I think moderation is key and depravation leads to failure. One thing that’s helped me is finding healthier alternatives to the things I love and keeping them on hand for when I’m really craving something sweet. For example I love donuts. I have a stash of low cal apple cider donuts made from monkfruit sugar and Greek yogurt in the freezer and whenever I’m feeling like I need something sweet I’ll pop one into the microwave and bam the craving is gone and my sweet tooth is satisfied.
Omg sounds delish - what's the brand?! Any other must-haves?
I’ve really enjoyed the “Stop Binge Eating” Podcast. Not that it sounds like you are doing that but the host does a lot of work explaining how and why you feel like you “need” the sweets and how to think about it differently.
Ill give this a listen, thank you! I do binge eat the sweets when they're around me sadly ahhaha but I'm usually ok with other foods (ex salty or carb foods)
Smart sweets, 100 calories and 3g of sugar. IMO the serving size is big!
I eat fruit for breakfast, pick off a rotisserie chicken or carnitas for lunch, noodles and vegetables for dinner, and I keep nuts, berries, and olives on hand for snacking. Every Saturday, I use the bones from the rotisserie to make ramen.
Gotchas to look out for are drinks and sauces. Make sure there is no added sugar in them.

Try Keto (temporarily like 1-2 months), once you’re fat adapted, you don’t get much cravings bc you feel satiated and full from the healthy fats (avocado, nuts, etc) and protein. 80% Dark chocolate will feel ‘sweet’ to you
I had the SAME exact issue. I have now found a local healthy food service and let them deliver M-F. They send me 2 sides (roasted veggies and quinoa ), 1 protein and 1 salad. So far I m loving it over Ubereats
So many great suggestions, I can't thank you all enough!!!! Here's to 2021 being the year I find some balance with that sweet tooth and perhaps a better relationship with my love, Chocolate. Haha seriously though, amazing suggestions. This was my first post in this bowl, so much love 💕
Coincidentally just got an ad for Smart Sweets, looks like they make ultra low sugar snacks. May be worth taking a look at
Don’t use fake sugar. Stick to really good in season fruits instead (right now is citrus) to get a healthy snack with a bit of sugar. If you want to make it more indulgent, have some berries with whipped cream.
They have shown numerous studies that if you body tastes something sweet but doesn’t get the hit of glucose it expects, you will crave more sugar.
