We went on vacation last week (I only get 12 PTO days) and I currently BF/pump at work our 5M old. Ive come down with a terrible cold and feel absolutely miserable - but feeling guilty about taking a day off again/conflicted losing another PTO day that I could use later in the year. However my mom gut is telling me to go home and rest bc what good am I if I cant fully be present after work for our babe!

If you don’t work remotely please stay home! It’s honestly a terrible move to risk getting your coworkers sick.

Anyone a manager? I’m recently diagnosed (26F) and I can’t help but beat myself up everytime I fall short of my to do list. Makes me feel like a huge disservice to my team. I’ve been trying vitamin D and working out, but it makes my “highs” and “low” SO extreme. The simplest things are so complex in my mind.

If anyone feels similar, how do you manage these feelings? I’m personally considering switching to an individual contributor role, but can’t help but feel like a disappointment if I do.

I work with a classroom of Middle School ED students. One student, who I worked with the year before, has changed alot over the year. Last year (pre COVID), she had a good head on her shoulders and I thought I had good rapor with her. But over that period of isolation, she tried to commit suicide.

All year, she was much more withdrawn and ALWAYS on her phone! At the end of the I was 'beat up by her - she really knocked my glasses off.

How should I approach her in the upcoming year?

What holiday party did you get?
Anyone living close to an office, got a holiday party with food and drinks, and the venue started open for them until around midnight. Our remote workers got a one hour party w a DJ and trivia that let you win gift cards. Yeah it was nice to win a gift card but I found it lame in comparison to hanging out with my team in real life.

Making a lot of money relative to the average but feeling poor? Median after-tax income was ~$55,000 in 1981 and was ~$73,000 in 2020. Using a Bank of Canada inflation calculator $55,000 in 1981 is equivalent to ~$165,000 today, which would put someone in the top 10% of earners today. But in 1981 the median family had that extra money. Who can I blame?

How do you invest and save for your children? I’m thinking about setting them up with custodial brokerage accounts but don’t want them to have a heyday at 18. Did you create irrevocable trusts or?? They are too young for earned income and I don’t own a business so no IRA investing opportunities here.
