What are people’s thoughts on a Conflict Analyst position out of law school? JD is required, pay is definitely in the first year attorney range. Mainly concerned about future opportunities and how it might impact my career progression?

For some perspective, I started in a quasi-legal compliance role out of law school while waiting on bar results/an associate position somewhere. Ended up staying five years but now at a well respected firm doing transactional work.

Anything is possible. If that’s the best you can do go for it and keep looking. Better to be employed then unemployed. Can’t sit around wasting away waiting on the perfect situation.

There's not a lot of hopping to other departments from conflicts at our firm. Or any, that I know of. Conflicts is pretty much its own department without any overlap with other practice areas.

It depends on what you want your career progression to look like. If you want to be an attorney, then no, find an associate position somewhere.

What’s the pay range and growth potential?
