SC transformation, SC strategy, SC planning (S&OP, IBP). If you want to pivot out of SC you could move to a corporate strategy role too
How do you think one best positions themself to pivot to corporate strategy? I may be incorrect but it seems like the corporate strategy roles I’ve looked into require strategy consulting experience (unfortunately)
I’d say ops roles with significant P&L responsibility are ge really tough for exits. Companies are hesitant to hire in a consultant as a director to own supply planning for a billion dollars worth of production. Generally the supply chain ops leadership roles are for people who have worked their way up in that world. You don’t want to be in ops though - you’re always fighting fires. SC transformation, CoE, SC product management are more common exits
