“Following up on an email I sent” that’s a decent one. It’s hard when they ask if they are expecting the call because personally I tell the truth

likehelpful

Thank you!

It depends, I’ve noticed some probably have a company policy where they can’t transfer you so they won’t but can’t politely tell you. I try “following up on an email” or “this is … from… can I leave a voicemail message for ….”

If you can’t get through, your follow up email for the prospect can reference you tried to call.

I don’t anticipate any hiccups in the background check but is it wise to wait until the background check is complete before turning in my notice?

Hello! Looking at an opportunity with established startup in UK that's just been acquired by a large co. I'm US based and my salary is around $250k (NYC) -I've been asked my expectation without the startup giving me a range to work from (though I've asked). I'm not sure how to reply to them because I have a feeling that my requirement may be out of their range and while I don't want to undercut my value, I also don't want to be cut out of the process because it's an interesting co. Any advice?
