What are some tips and tricks to dampen procrastination?

I like to create deadlines for myself and try to honor them as if they were external deadlines. I normally work extra hard for external deadlines because I feel accountable to others, but it's always harder feeling that same accountability to yourself. It just takes practice, but I've found setting deadlines for different stages of a project to be absolutely necessary

I will give myself personal deadlines and often times I will reward myself ina small way by either getting myself a coffee or something small I enjoy for not procrastinating.

Make a list to accomplish by the end of the day every morning and once you finish, take it easy the rest of the day.

I tend to make a comprehensive list of everything that needs to be done on a particular day in order of priority. Then I pick away one task at a time. I am going to start just as soon as I finish the list. It feels really good to knock tasks off my list. If for some reason I'm having a hard time tasking a task, I pick one that is low hanging fruit to get started.

I isolate myself in a meeting room. It's amazing how things get done when I don't see or hear people. This technique works for me.

Wake up an hour early and knock out the unpleasant tasks first.

Left consulting and started in FinTech this week. My senior manager was shocked we had to bill time hourly/daily and now I will never have to fill out a timesheet again except for PTO.

I tried asking this in my own bowl with no responses, so seeing if other consultants have run into this situation. I’m on parental leave, I got an offer for another firm, great opportunity and pay. How does one go about a resignation mid-leave when you would start the new job before the leave ends? Two weeks notice or just say I am not returning effective the day of the new job? Any things to consider besides potentially repaying the employer healthcare premium?

I am mainly working with shops in the States as a non-native speaker and I am constantly worried about my ability to communicate (in any professional occasion but mostly in meetings). I am working with some of the best shops and this makes the situation worse considering that I am largely surrounded by an extremely competent group of folks that are super good at any form of communication. How do you feel as a native speaker when you meet non-natives? Should they be worried, or, they doing ok?

I work at an manufacturing company as a technician. My job title is a technician but they use me as an engineer as-well. There are three techs overall in the company. My boss who hired me understands what my degree is in so he uses me to design parts and write reports. The plant manager doesn’t know my skills so anytime I’m in the office working he calls me to the floor to do something the other techs can do. Should I have a talk with the boss about it?
