There is only 1.
Anecdotally: have lots of friends at MBB and at Big 4. Big 4 seem to have much better wlb; late nights are 7-9 vs 11-1am for myself and the MBBers. Also weekend work less normal for them
MC1 I think it’s the perfect place to work right out of college. Jump starts the career with lots of learning and exposure, great on the CV, and just about anything you do next will have better wlb so seemed like a worthwhile investment to me. I’m in year 3 and expect to leave this year.
Pay pay pay pay and pay
Pay and obnoxious independence requirements.
I never thought a job would incentivize me to stay single and never have kids until I had to start doing Independence reporting 😂
Pro
1. Access to CXOs
2. Pay at level and Trajectory
3. Breadth of work
4. Exit opps/ brand value
5. WLB (negative)

C1: That’s what we have always felt since the beginning of our careers. That things get better in terms of calendar control as we grow. You’d know better now. There are always bigger fish, and there are always greater expectations.

Lol 1) pay 2) hours 3) arrogance 4) worst health effects due to long hours 5) better reimbursement
You mean MBB folks are arrogant and have worst health ?
Chief
MBB also work a lot longer hours usually. But tend to hire more motivated people who expect it, hence high satisfaction ratings anyway. Yeah I know, no one asked me…

At the end of the day, MBB aren’t attached to accounting firms. B4 are. B4 also have much more diverse businesses that are generally larger than MBB. You can work like you’re at MBB at B4 and do the same work … if you’re in that line of business (though MBB increasingly want to compete in areas traditionally dominated by B4). That said, B4 are designed to be more stable across businesses while MBB offer more volatile, but frequently more lucrative, partner pay structure.
Is there any difference in the way companies engage with clients or type of projects ?
D9 not every MBB has an easy what you kill model. There's distinctions across the firms that impact how folks collaborate at the higher levels.
You fly business in MBB in most cases
BCG upgrade for flight length >90min, McK upgrades >3:20 I think
Is that applicable across all competencies? What more technical fields such as cybersecurity?
Definitely not. Big4 has much much wider range of offerings
What is the pay difference like for similar levels across MBB and Big 4?
It's easily +50-100% at MBB
How is the level of travel between the two?
Are you able to progress in MBB as an experienced hire without an MBA? Are you valued less than others?
Lots of experienced hires do.
Rare to encounter someone w/o at least a Master's in a diff field but it happens
Does anyone have recommendations for a resume writer in our industry?
