When I was at BBDO, we get executive health services. It’s a one day “retreat” where you get checked from top to bottom—probably to check our sanity for staying in the industry for so long
Gives your dad something to understand about your job and be proud of
👆this. I had a VP title years ago and it was meaningless since they handed out SVP and EVP titles like candy.
That was my title for the past year or so. But I really couldn’t tell you. I’m freelance now, so it really couldn’t have been all that.
Depends on the agency
Money. That’s it
At some agencies it’s seen as a nice recognition for loyalty, or hard work or a special achievement. None of which qualified you for the next real level up, but was worth rewarding in some high profile but otherwise meaningless way.
But now it doesn’t mean much where I’m at. It just means you’re an “officer” of the company and that you can sign contracts etc.
It’s supposed to make you warm and fuzzy inside
We work on cars and I think they get a huge car allowance. But I'm far from VP so idk
It lets you use caps lock more frequently
At our agency it unlocks more vacation days, opens you up for the bonus pool, and gives you some other small benefit perks.
As a VP, you're generally more a part of the "leadership team" and have more say in the direction of the agency as a whole. Well theoretically.
Ego, mostly.
