Love how when there's a high-profile layoff—Netflix the latest e.g.—recruiters and others in hiring/helping positions come blasting out of the woodwork to be all magnanimous & altruistic, offering contacts, referrals, job openings, etc...you know, when it makes for a nice, shiny, like-baity LinkedIn post. But for those of us *constantly* hoping for a response, any response? They can't be bothered. Come on, folks: be altruistic ALL THE TIME, not just when it benefits your social media Q Score.

How much can you disappoint your managers without getting fired?

After being laid-off, I’m going to take some classes to improve my skills, I’m not sure if I want to jump back to advertising. I feel a bit traumatized.

I had a call with the Leader of my Consulting practice at Deloitte to let them know that I received an official job offer from a competitor. I asked that the firm matches my offer but they declined. It would’ve been an additional 13K a year to my paycheck. Scared if I stay at Deloitte after having this conversation, I’ll get laid off at year-end. How likely is that to happen?

I’ll be honest, I am mainly on the bowl for the political discussions because I fear being fired if I were to post publicly. Not that I’m posting crazy things but rather that basic conservative views seem to be so controversial these days. Am I alone on that? Shout out to those on the left who engage in good faith discussions as well cuz those are very much needed between left and right.

Is this is a risky time to move jobs? Currently interviewing for a large financial institution so the business will survive, but if layoffs are imminent, I wonder if they target new hires first.

Thoughts on moving to a smaller firm to do Due Diligence consulting work after being laid off. Audit work never really had my interest so maybe advisory will be a little more interesting.

Any Junior AD or AD spots out there I’m willing to relocate! I’ve been laid off for a month and haven’t quite landed yet. Looking for leads.

Does anyone have a clear answer on why so many layoffs? Besides the “agency model is dead” crap. Is the economy bad? Are the other Industries laying people off too? This is getting scary.
