Much more. :/

Yep. 1750. Outrageous. Should have stayed at KPMG.

Eh our industry’s pipeline isn’t as bad as you think. The economy was blowin and goin for a while and tech/engineering was sexy and lucrative. People realized those jobs were drying up and not guaranteed anymore. Now accounting programs are back at capacity.

I believe 1,550 for BDO. What kind of work do they have you do in replacement? I would assume more BD work?

Managing your engagements and people.

For reference, at least in BTS tax, the requirements are:

Staff/Snr: 1622 hrs
Manager: 1,352 hrs
SM: 1,248 hrs

Which is much lower than I have had at other firms I have worked for.

Yeah I find the charge goals at KPMG to be very reasonable. However we do need some of that extra time to deal with having 3 different software solutions depending on the return type, plus almost zero admin support 😂

I agree they are reasonable, but anyone ranked at or above level is exceeding their utilization goal, which I think is how it should be. The goal shouldn’t be so high that it’s nearly unattainable when you consider all of the other admin work that needs to be done. Also, if manager charge goals are only a small amount less than staff, how does that make any sense? Manager hour budgets on engagements should be at least 40% less if it is leveraged correctly. I think KPMG has it right. Would be interested to know what other Big4 are doing.

I’ve never met my chargeable goals at KPMG after becoming a manager either 🤣 looks like I shouldn’t go elsewhere lol. I’m a SM now and got promoted on time, and get told I’m a high performer in all my reviews. Chargeability is kinda stupid in my opinion. We all know who takes 2x as long to do things due to inefficiencies but has higher chargeability because of it.

So, recently got put on a PIP after six months at my new job., two days after I told my boss and HR I recently learned I have a cognitive disability caused by an illness. The PIP was mostly because I forgot some deadlines, but also they said I need to be more professional in emails (even though others use zero punctuation and a lot of emojis. To clients.) and simultaneously ask more questions and ask fewer questions. Should I just assume this is unattainable and look for a new job again?
