Pay and ego. I don’t think there’s that much to it other than that.
Do it. Start your own firm.
It's why firms become siloed, where each partner run his or her own fiefdom, and they all stay together b/c of the ease of sharing (can be brand name as well as staff) and cost centers (software subscriptions, marketing, IT, etc).
Isn’t high pay the draw? I think you’re reading into it too much.
True.
Career progression doesn’t stop at making partner. You keep excelling and taking in more responsibilities. There are lots of sector groups and other teams that require partners making business decisions as well.
I don’t want to have to decide what desks to order or what color paint the office should be. But I like the money. And I like client service, and I like that in public accounting it’s not a big deal for me to the weather is good and leave at 2 to go to my boat for the rest of the day.
My utilization is on the high side for PPMDs so believe me I am not losing any sleep over being flexible in the summer.
If you’re moderately talented it’s easy to make it 7fig comp. what is your question?
Who cares? You don’t have the time to even spend it.
Wtf are you even taking about?

My thoughts exactly.
