What are your thoughts about brining back the Army Specialist ranks above E-4? Are they considered obsolete and/or redundant now are can they be given a new and improved purpose?

I definitely feel like they should bring them back because not everyone is cut out to be a leader and I honestly don’t believe in putting someone in a higher position their not ready for. Because no matter what anyone in the military says, toxic leadership a big issue in todays army. One of the main reasons they took away the specialist ranks is to create more E-5 and above because of the lackluster of them. But why would you put someone in charge, if their incapable of being in charge?

I agree with the above. Bring them back. Not everyone is cut out to be a leader nor does everyone want to be a leader.

Because of my injuries in the military as an E4, I was unable to move forward through PLDC and obtain the rank of E5. I was forced to get out in the early 90s (R.I.F.) after Desert Storm. I was nowhere near ready to be a leader. But from the time that I joined until the time of my ETS out of the service, I purposed to learn and be ready to lead. I was willing and determined mentally to be trained to overcome all for the sake of the mission. We need both Specialist & Corporal to remain.

I have a coworker who keeps spouting comparative odds and situations in regards to the safety of the vaccine. Such as: you're twice as likely to get hit by lightening than have blod clots from JJ. It's very annoying and I find it to be really inapprorpriate, maybe because it's pushy or just I find these comparative things to be a bit irrelevant. How does one handle something like that? Can you shut the person down without starting a spat?

I accepted a $115K base salary, 13% bonus, 10k sign on bonus (scientist supervisor) job and two weeks later, got a $135K base, 17% bonus, and 15K sign on bonus (Senior scientist role) offer from another company. Should I accept the new offer ? How do I tell the previous company about this? Also, I’ve already negotiated with the first company and the $115K base is the negotiated salary. I really do not prefer one company over the other. They’re both great! I’m very confused here. TIA🙏
