I'm in Canada. Based in a long term care hospital. We still screen digitally via app before work, and are masked all shift. Temperature checks for staff ended quite a while ago.
Clinical staff still wear surgical masks with patients. Patients are asked to wear them in open areas (waiting room) with other patients but can remove them in the room if desired. [Most never wore them correctly or worn an effective n95 mask anyway]. We’re in a more rural area so we never really saw a surge of any significance or nearly the severity of illness that more urban areas saw.
I literally just read (today) how California is getting ready to no longer require COVID vaccinations nor masking for hospitals, correctional facilities, emergency personnel etc. however California is having a surge in COVID cases right now. I was on Apple News while reading the “possible” reasons behind it. Here are the titles to the 4 news articles that were mentioned and were all written by The San Francisco Chronicle. In fair disclosure, I haven’t read all of these yet so don’t come at me!
