What do non-partnership track positions normally entail? Is there any work/life balance benefit to being in such a position? Are they normally compensated less than associate positions? I’ve seen a couple available and I’m wondering whether I should go for them.

Fox Rothschild’s recruiter reached out to me about their staff atty position and when I asked about the billable requirement she just said it was “lower.” Also no response for salary range. You mean I have to go through a full process interviewing somewhere only to find out later the req is still 1849 for 90k???

Thats awful and im sorry

Depends on what you want. If you just want to chill (relative term) in a career associate position then I think you can have better work life balance. However I know a lot of people who want to use it get partnership track (either there or at another firm) in which case it would be even more of a grind.

like

For Fox Rothschild, non partnership track L&E positions are for 1800-1850 hours, and pay around $105k.

Sorry just saw this- $185k, 5th year; I guess I don’t understand the difference between partner v nonpartner track bc my hours goal is still 1850, so why would anyone do a non partner track if they’re still expected to Bill the same and don’t get paid as much ?

Hi 👋 Any good UX books for senior designer level that helps with strategy, and good frameworks, or anything that will help me with my thought process? I have the basic books like don’t make me think, and 100 things. I’ll be joining a startup soon as chief designer, and will be back to being a full stack designer — I’ve been an IC for the past few years, so I definitely need to improve on strategies and maybe frameworks when it comes to UX. Will appreciate any suggestions. Thanks! 🙏🏻

Any insight or tips how to navigate for increased base?

Graduated in 2020, wanted to be a graphic designer, took a job at a startup in a social media role. The boss called me the "r" word for not handling entire 13-ish accounts roster well by myself. I quit. Found a role as social media specialist. Realized (again) that I hate social media. Moved to in-house mktg manager, only to be a glorified graphic designer / someone to call the city to cut down trees. I job hopped too much, I feel my portfolio is empty. How do I restart again? I feel defeated.

I’m about to give my notice at a firm I’ve been at for the majority of my legal career. They’ve recently offered me non-equity partnership (which I’ve accepted), w equity partnership on the horizon. However, I’ve been annoyed with their way of running the business and getting between me and my earnings far too long; and I received a lucrative offer to go in-house. I’m not looking forward to their reaction and feel bad about them having to take over my docket when everyone’s very busy. Any tips?

I have a promising interview at a relatively large law firm in my area (+100 attorneys) next week. The position is for a transactional role in their real estate practice group, and they are seeking someone with at least 2 YOE. I have a bit over 7 YOE with a strong real estate/commercial lit. background. Over the past two years in my current position, I've been doing a lot more transactional work. The split is around 50% transactional and 50% lit.
