Called recuit mgr.to let him know and he tells me the director is very busy as she’s the IT. Dir for the whole org.politely asked him to send her availability other than next Haven’t received anything since then . Wondering if such co. Is worth pursuing that doesn’t value others time and that too a replacement pos for the same busy role 🥹

While I love that I don’t have to worry about billables, I end up working a lot with no proof of my work. I have no way to confirm the hours (guessing I’m at 2,300 target, maybe more) and people don’t see how much I’m sweating
I left a 2400 billable reqt to go in house and I feel like a new person. I have my life back and am so much happier. I only sacrificed about 10k in salary which was well worth it. I’m never going back to billing again.
From big law? Did you go to tech?
Starting my first private sector job without billables or litigation. It's like a mix of compliance/in house. Not sure if I'll be less stressed but that's the hope.
I am absolutely less stressed without a billable requirement. We serve a small number of rather large clients (municipalities), and essentially have a flat fee structure for all legal work outside of litigation and then we bill for anything in litigation. So I only bill what is necessary and also do a ton of non-billable work. I’m always busy and there’s always something to do, because it’s a small firm, but it is also very flexible. Unless I have a hearing or a meeting that requires me to be in a certain place at a certain time, I don’t HAVE to work 9-5, and often find myself working 12-7 or something like that. I like having my mornings to myself, being able to workout when I want and be where I want. I know that if we had a strict billable requirement my life wouldn’t be like this regardless of any kind of in-office policies, so I do think that if you take advantage of the more relaxed structure you definitely can be MUCH happier and avoid burning out as often as big firm lawyers do.
