What is an unexpected positive that has come out of marriage for you? I'll go first - I've learned to lighten up, a lot. My wife is a calming presence for me and it's really changed me over the years.

I no longer get in daily auto accidents because I now have a passenger who warns me at least a half mile early of an impending collision.

My mom was like that in teaching me to drive. She would brace herself against the dashboard for a 20 mph curve and whisper "Crash!". So, I had to retake driver education in the spring semester. I had an A in the book part, but I was too frightened to drive well. Dad and a happier instructor fixed everything.

I have someone who constantly points out my flaws and shortcomings so I know where I need to improve! Growth mindset!

Sorry this is my manager, forgot we were talking about marriage!

Not having to date. That seems absolutely goshdarned awful.

It’s rough out there. Definitely piss in the dating pool. I’m glad I found my partner!

Before marriage, I always thought my career would be more important than kids and I’d just let her deal with all the kids’ stuff. Today I got choked up over my daughter’s preschool graduation and am terrified of the day she doesn’t let me brush her hair anymore.

😂 This is a great testimony for why women should stop having children with male partners.

Thanks to my wife, I make lists and update my calendar with events to stay on top of everything going on, which I never did before when I was single. It definitely makes my life easier!

I've definitely learned a lot about communication, which has helped me a lot in other areas of my life. I used to be so bad about communicating with people, but being married has made me learn to always include my spouse in difference decisions and keep them updated on my own life.

I love being taken care of and provided for. Even though I make more, my husband has always cared for me, even during seasons he made more $. And I love leaning into that more and more. Just having someone you can rely on 1000% is gold and I never had that, ever

I've learned to stop being so uptight. It makes life more fun. No need to get upset if he throws a snowball at me, or splashes me with water. Now, I can be playful with the kiddos without being bitchy

Having someone pour into you, into your soul...priceless. the positive affirmations and cheering me on. It be annoying sometimes when I'm like dude shut and just let me vent. But it's helped me get to where I am. He really thinks I'm THAT GIRL 💁‍♀️

Kids: I picked the perfect person to have children with. The way our genes mixed to make these beautiful creatures....and how smart, awesome, and wonderful they are. He's the perfect partner to raise kids with. We balance eachother fairly well most of the time. It's so easy

It hasn't always been this way, so I'm definitely appreciating what we've created. Literally in bed sick while he's fixed me 2 sandwiches, and even bought me cold water unwarranted.

Believe me...you do not want a girlfriend who you have to teach. One ex would not walk the dog, do a handful of dishes from lunch, or work. Eventually, her mom came to town and moved her home.

Aww!! You’re so nice, you always praise me 🥰

I have a lot more confidence in myself and feel like, for the first time, I have the space to really be myself and explore that. I wish I could say all of that happened on my own, but my husband has been really instrumental in helping me learn how to love myself.

I miss my old days 😭😭

Not having to think about what to cook/eat. I got kicked out of the kitchen when it comes to cooking. I focused on grilling now and doing dishes. Tag team. Kids can’t wait to have my smoked ribs on weekends.

I've learned the fine art of strategic sock disappearance. Apparently, it's not just gnomes stealing them; it’s me trying to avoid laundry duty!

Happened so much when I was single. Wife bags them up in washable mesh bags. I have a special dispensation from a Catholic priest to wear odd socks. Unfortunately, I am Lutheran.

Agree! I think I was a tough person to live with before my 3rd marriage. But both of my ex’s were leaches.

Leeches are the bloodsuckers. Leaching is something liquids do.

My GF and I are dating for 2.5 yrs , She met an office colleague (he has a GF) recently who she initiated a friendship with. I feel that they interact a lot and I'm a little worried of her getting too close to him. A day ago she asked him for lunch and they were out for almost 4-5 hrs. When I expressed how I felt she keeps saying there's nothing going on. I feel that when start to get emotionally close to some other guy than SO then it's not a good sign in relationship. Am I overthinking? contd.

One of your roommates (and a close friend that you’ve known for years) has a flight to catch. He has a suitcase, a duffle bag (no wheels), and a backpack. In order for him to get to the airport would you:

A) offer to drive him to the airport that’s about .5 miles away (5 minute drive)

B) tell him to order an Uber since you know his work would pay for it

C) tell him to not be lazy and walk half a mile to the nearest public transportation stop, with all that luggage, and take public transit

At my uncles wedding in Madrid I remember lying down on the grass in the courtyard after their first dance and crying, my Dad came and saw me, laid down in his suit beside me and asked what was wrong.

“I know my boyfriend wouldn’t dance with me like that at our wedding”

And we just lay there as I cried, and then got up. Had a drink.

Said boyfriend left years ago, and now I have a wonderful man who just asked me what type of dance lessons I want for our wedding next year.

Don’t give up.

A long post: seeking some perspective. My husband of 2 years that I’ve been in a relationship with for more than 8 years just woke up one day and told me that he’s unhappy in our relationship. I’m devastated because he’s never expressed anything like this in the 8 years. He’s been super supportive and loving, even when we were in a long distance relationship. He supported my career and dreams and this just doesn’t make sense. We have gotten a counselor but things aren’t getting better. Comment>

A relative is raising a teenage son with her ex-husband. They have joint physical custody. The ex-husband has re-married. When the son is in his care, he often leaves the son at home in California with his (new) wife when he travels for work (which is often). The relative wants her ex-husband to leave their son in her care when he travels out of town but the ex-husband disagrees. The relative wants to know her chances of prevailing if she were to appear in court on this issue. Thoughts? Thanks!

For couples who are not married yet - Do you guys talk about net worth, income, or anything even finance related? I know my SO earns more given his current industry, but thinks it’s rude to talk about those things. But I’m wondering… isn’t it normal for couples who live together or are married share those info? For example - How am I going to know what to pay for our child’s education in the future etc?

Need advice from people who have faced and cracked this. I like my work and would prefer to grow and be a top performer as well
