What order should I take the CPA exam in? Thinking FAR first since it will probably be hardest and the clock won’t start ticking if I fail.

Most common is FAR -> AUD -> REG -> BEC

likehelpful

Or do REG first, but def BEC last

I did FAR last, just because If I had to take it first I probably would have just given up..

like

Do whatever makes the most sense to you. I took FAR the last. But I like your logic.

like

Take BEC first- the BEC exam changes in Jan 2024 and you will have to take a "discipline" section on the BEC exam if you have not passed it prior to the change.

like

I did AUD, FAR, REG, BEC. But I'd do FAR first if I had to take them again today.

I did FAR first for exactly that reason. Followed by reg, bec, aud

You won’t know what’s hardest to you till you’ve taken them. Just do what feels right to you. I took did BEC>REG>AUD>FAR. AUD by far was the hardest for me and I failed it so many times that I lost BEC and REG. After I finally finished my timeline was BARF….

I did Audit first because I really hated the subject in school and in practice and feared it the most. Then BEC, REG and FAR was my final. Looking back I probably should have done FAR second to take some of the pressure off, but I was also taking the other 2 just after regular and mini busy seasons so my brain was pretty fried and I was looking to get the easier ones out of the way.

I did Far bec aud reg. Saving REG for last was a killer for me mentally. Lost motivation.

OMG, when we took the exam you had to take all parts at the same time. 2.5 days of hell. Good luck strategizing on which parts to take 1 at a time!!😀

Sorry if I hurt your feelings and didn’t lift you up. Take the hardest one first and get it behind you so you don’t run out of time to take the balance and keep the hardest.

Is that better😀

I did reg, audit, BeC, far. At the end of the day you have to do it when it makes sense for you. Far takes the longest time to study for so pick the window you have the most time. If you work in audit or tax taking that respective one first might make sense. There’s a lot of arguments and theories for each order so just do what makes sense for you.

7 year lawyer here. Been with the same big national firm all 7 years (not BigLaw) doing complex litigation. Been working remote a long time due to moving around for wife’s job. As a result of the moving was bumped off partner track. I’m looking at a great small firm that will be a practice change (but still litigation). I’m told they’re looking for someone with less experience and they’re skeptical because of my experience. It’s frustrating. How do I overcome this?

Long post alert; I have been interviewing with a b4 for a senior con role since Mar end. Cleared all the rounds including case study and got strong rating as well as good feedback. Fast forward to last week, the talent POC calls me up and informs that she has asked the business if the position is still open, because now they just need the business approval to roll out the offer. I immediately felt demotivated as to ‘why now’ after all rounds have been cleared (continued in the comment below)
