Hi all, I just got a job offer at PwC for a senior consultant position. The salary is 30% above my total comp right now, but I’m just worried about the amount of work I will have to put in compared to my amazing work life balance now. Does anyone have any experience moving from industry to consulting? I need some advice on what to do. I’m still early in my career (1.4yoe) so I feel like I shouldn’t care too much about wlb, but at the same time, I don’t want my mental health to suffer either.

Talk to the partners you work with most either in person or over the phone. It’s the respectful thing to do. Some people say an email of resignation is enough, but I would question that person’s integrity. Two weeks is customary.
What’s your current practice area? Most people understand going in house and depending on your practice area your current employer will not want to burn a bridge with you.
If your firm does insurance work they’ll love that you are going in-house and can potentially send them work. It’s easy to understand your departure, so don’t worry about quitting and just do it respectfully. Good luck on your new role!
I will also add that we often think quitting will be more difficult then it actually is, but employers know their staff will quit and don’t take it personal.
thank you both!
