What’s the cool off period for McKinsey? Applied 6 months ago with no referral and didn’t get an interview, but now have a manager referral and thinking about reapplying

I’m a strategy and M&A Manager (Non-top tier) +8 YOE in consulting and a founder with a personal impact, If I get to have an MBB referral for an interview I’d possibly pass out from excitement. I'm SVP/strategy for a PR agency. I moved into PR, Healthcare, and Strategic Planning only 3 years ago. An agency recruiter is trying to convince me to move into a GSVP account role, assuring me "at that level it's all strategy." (I dont think she understands the words she's using. Or that I'm qualified). But long-term, knowing account roles are so much more plentiful than brand planning in PR, I'm wondering if I should start thinking about account. Anyone here moved from strategy to account?

Got an offer for SE III at a large tech company. Product I'd be working on interests me and I think I could grow more than in my current role.

Currently I make 180k base and have ISO/RSUs @ startup (60k/yr worth on paper, but won't be worth anything for a few years, if at all).

The offer is:
Base: $166,500
Target Bonus: 10% ($16,650)
RSU: 120k total (30k/yr)

Thoughts on offer? Should I counter?

Additionally there's a yearly target RSU bonus about equal to the cash bonus. Thoughts? 4.5 YOE

I am interested in knowing how much an oilfield engineer earns. I currently have a job offer from a medium-sized company, but as a recent graduate, I don't know if the pay is adequate.

Mortgage PITI payment would be about 50% of take home pay, but it fits easily within my budget. We max out 401k, HSA, and backdoor Roth. We also have about 150k in savings in case things get tight and saving an additional 1k per month. Is this still too tight?

Currently 1 YOE tech consulting at Deloitte looking to make a hop to more strategy type roles and came across the strategy analyst development program- 1. is this only for fresh undergrads from specific schools or would I be able to apply? 2. I have my first round interview (phone case) with McKinsey tomorrow. Any tips on what to expect with the phone case? Will there be an introduction (elevator pitch + why McKinsey?) or will they jump straight into the case? It’s only 30 mins.

McKinsey 🐟: does your ops practice heavily prefer people with practical experience instead of current operations consultants from other firms? As an ops consultant from another firm, what would be the best way to lateral into mck ops?

Is it common at McKinsey for partners to be heavily involved in projects? I work in industry and I’m on a project now where a Senior Partner and Partner are on most our calls and seem very involved in delivery. The EM takes point on the deck but less on client relationships. I used to work at Big 4 and honestly our partners were rarely involved.

I’ve heard that AP/Principal/SM (the level immediately below Partner) is the hardest place to exit. Is this the prevailing wisdom you’ve heard, and why is it so difficult to exit at that level?
