Assuming you mean consulting and not industry execs... ~500k total comp is the average for a mid/late principal. If you mean outside of consulting, then bankers or doctors or super senior engineers (at a Google for example) probably take in as much if not more. “Non partner” is pretty vague though!
I’ve heard of independent consultants in niche technologies making upwards of 500k/year but they had crazy hourly rates and in very high demand areas.

The salary anomalies will probably be in boutiques.
