Starting a new job at Applied Materials on Monday as a Manufacturing Engineer III. I’ve been out of college for 5 years and all of my work experience till now has been in R&D for start ups and small businesses . So not only is this a new experience for me going into such a large company but also a industry (semiconductors). Does anybody has tips or advices on what I should expect as a new hire and how I can set myself up for success? Thanks!

2 years of your life back enjoying yourself and having free time
No point unless you want to move to MBB. Also good to have in the future to get those C suite roles
Also offers a unique one-time opportunity to course correct on your career, evaluate options you may not know existed, and be in an environment where many many employers come to you (and your peers) actively seeking to hire for post-MBA career tracks.
The best benefit of all, getting out of consulting.
What if I know I don’t want to do consulting, banking, tech, f500 but want to do non-profit / social enterprise?
You have only one perspective as a consultant. MBAs really are the most diverse interesting places you can be plus it really allows you to think about who you want to be.
Plus it comes with a massive raise (make money money!!)
I was a "high potential" employee on the CEOs list of a fortune 500. The MBA got my head outta my behind and I was able to see what building a career really took. Also made me realize there were much smarter people than me in the world. If that's of any value to you, you should strongly consider it
I largely agree with D1, but OP your second question is spot-on. Practically-speaking, a solid MBA will open up opportunities in other fields, provide exposure for you to learn a lot more, and provide contacts.
Let’s turn it around. If you love your job, always want to stay in the field, and want to make money as quickly as possible, don’t get an MBA.
Lots of good opportunity to enter those fields via MBA op
You would make a good amount in industry
