How unlimited PTO feels

I have been reading a few articles talking about how FAANG isn’t as lavish as it used to be. My first question is if that is true? If it is true, my second question is what companies out there have the pay, benefits, and perks like FAANG? My last question is if it is as difficult to get into those companies? Not paying healthcare/ benefits IS the reason companies have always hired freelancers.
BUT companies are now refusing to pay more than half of what freelancer rates have always been. That’s the problem.

CD1 is correct. Nothing you can do but ride it out. Take on extra, simultaneous freelance gigs on DL if you can.
However, do not take on 2 gigs that are under the same holding company or payroll will notify them.
Do they pay freelance rates? Not the worst gig if they do
I feel like they’re all through staffing agencies 😭 I wish there was some stronger way for workers to organize against this or shame them effectively lol
I’m currently on one of these contracts and the staffing firm does offer health insurance but the plan is more expensive than the state marketplace benefits. I get a 401k though. These companies don’t hire multiple full time teams because they have very defined busy periods and don’t want to pay for full time staff during downtime, unfortunately.
Copywriter1- I’ve worked for/through Aquent, off and on, since 2005. I’ve always been hired for full-time contracts for 35-40 hours a week that ranged from 3 months to 18 months. Not that the original time period matters if you’re a good match.
I was last hired for a FT 3-month contract in January 2022. I’m still working there! 🙂 Aquent supplements both their health and dental benefits plan based on the number of hours you work per week. In my case, I pay very little for excellent benefits.
I’ve always worked freelance contracts through Aquent who provides exceptional benefits. I have health/vision/dental that is better than any agency ever provided - and it’s partially supplemented. Great 401k with matching, accident, major illness and hospital supplements. Loads of other great perks.
Love my 40- hour a week contract, client, and teams!
Oh nice! Thank you for all this info.
