When I was first getting into the industry I interviewed at a big shop that did my interview and a bunch of others that day in a hotel lobby. Any idea why they would do them offsite?

Prob so they didn’t take over all the meeting rooms for a day

Maybe they didn't want to be in the office lol. Maybe they travel a lot to a client site and it's the most convenient spot for them to conduct interviews and go back to the client.

like

Also sometimes the interviewees request it because they maybe know someone who works at the agency and they're trying to keep the fact theyre interviewing off the grapevine. (If they saw their friend it would get out etc)

Usually if you use a hotel lobby as a meeting place, you dont have an office, or you feel like your office wouldnt be very impressive. A few recruiters have asked to meet me in hotel lobbies or coffee shops, because they dont spend money on rent.

Also if the agency has kind of a shitty undesirable location, theres your answer. They dont want you to factor in the commute or possibly shitty lunch choices yet.

like

It was a big impressive shop and hey choose the location. So maybe the meeting room thing was the reason. Guess I’ll never know for sure

Hi fishes,
I was interviewed for a company and everything went well. When asked about my expectations, I gave them a number.
After that they did not call me back and when I reached them. They are saying they have concerns over salary and currently checking on other candidates. They said its not rejected but they will get back.

What should I do ?

What’s the going rate for an Account Director in NYC? My current company doesn’t pay enough and want to know what’s acceptable to ask for in the interviewing process (within reason)?

I’m interviewing for a marketing manager role at a company based in SF. I’m genuinely excited about the role and the company but we’ve yet to discuss salary. I expect to be asked at some point, but my research has given me a VERY broad range. So I’m here to do a bit more research. I’ve got 5 very relevant years of experience and will have an associate manager directly reporting to me. Are there any marketers out there who can share their salaries in similar regions and experience levels?

I want to one day have my own firm. Trying to think outside the box on how to get the experience w/o being in big law for ten years.

Thinking of applying to be an ASA and to the FL AGO. Would like trial experience or civil rights/con law work.

Thoughts appreciated!

My old employer asked me if I wanted to come back to the company as a manager. The pay will likely be much better and the position holds more responsibility than I’ve had before, so overall it would be a step up. The issue is I left the company because of an abusive manager who constantly put me down and made me feel like I wasn’t doing anything right. If I come back I’d be working under her again. I’m torn because the opportunity is great but the stress was awful. Continued in comments…

Is it okay to disappear from friends & family to work on career change goals (several months)? I want to focus and not get distracted by friends & family needs to see me or attend certain things as it takes up a lot of time. If I focus for a short time, I can quickly achieve my goals to switch. I can hangout with them after all of that. What do you think?? Any feedback will be appreciated.
