When should you start reaching out to companies and people (via Linkedin mostly)? If I'm looking to exit in 6 mos is this too early?

Now. A formal recruitment process can take 2-4 months if you get everything (role, comp, etc) on your first go.

So it makes sense to talk with people now and get your ducks in a row for referrals so you’re good to go in a few months when you’re ready

like

Stick it for 11months and 1 day, just so it appears you spent a year there. Seek your passion, you got the brand name and can exploit it in the future for your gains. Go do you!

I’ve asked for work but no luck. I know they say this is normal for a stub but when should I start getting worried and consider looking for exit options? Fyi, I like my practice group, so I don’t want to change to a different group within my firm, hence would have to lateral, if I have to. Also, other co-1st years are churning in high hours.

Currently a paralegal at a small start up financial services company been there for just a little over a year. I wear “multiple hats” but more recently I’ve done a lot of PM work and some BA work. My position title is changing soon but I’m wondering how helpful that would be for wanting to go into PM work at a tech company. Anyone have any career pivot advice? (Also I’m only 1.5yrs old in my career so I’m definitely still new, and I have previous experience as a project assistant).

Hello,

Currently, in accenture. I have had very bad billable hours and not much achievement this fiscal year. I am worried of getting fired, so i applied for another job. Got offered may be 5% above my current pay with 5k bonus, but in lower level at Deloitte. I think working lower level will give me more opportunities to learn as i think i have lot to learn. I made decision based on my gut and accepted the offer. I have not talked to anyone on accenture side yet. What you think?

As you grow with your company and take on more responsibilities, delegation becomes MANDATORY to be effective in your role.

Just don't confuse delegation as an excuse to get away from tasks while you don't work on anything important. Rather, use it to grow efficiently by working on the most important tasks while others help you.

Mid-career at a Tier 2. Have two offers in front of me, very different trajectories:

McK: Lateral move with tenure, 1 yr from EM, generalist still
A&M: Step up to Manager, PEPI (PE performance improvement)

Which do you choose and why? (And leaving comp out of the equation, if you can - A&M is immediately higher, for now)

I do plan to continue in consulting for say another 3-5 years
