When you join EY in the Consultant service line, if I will be traveling regularly would I be able to expense a lounge membership or have to wait a certain time period? Not familiar with the frequent traveler policy. Any insight helps. Thank you

No - you would not be able to expense that. Traveling is something expected of your role and would not garner lounge memberships as an expense.

It doesn’t take too many months of traveling that you don’t start to build up some miles or status that can get you in. If you’re in a rush - look into the various credit cards that have lounge access. I use the Amex platinum card which provides access to the centurion lounge and also has a priority pass membership for other lounge use (495/year) and pays for itself

You used to be able to expense the Amex platinum but they killed that. If you qualify for frequent traveler based on miles flown I think you can still get a lounge expensed but if you qualify based on nights away then no. TBD what happens after covid as they are really pushing less travel.

My understanding is M and above will continue to travel to have client face time at a moderate level ( TBD Client Specific ) but junior levels not as much.

Correct. You qualify after a certain number of miles within 12 months. You must requalify again over the next 12 months after. I think the level of travel is still being figured out, mostly client expectations. Who knows what they will do with the frequent traveler program.

So supposed to head out of town for a long weekend with friends starting the evening of 4/21. My one friend and her son tested positive for Covid on 4/13 and have been sick. She says she is coming on our trip. On the following Thurs 4/28 I need to spend time with my 92 year old diabetic father. Do I go on this trip? I don’t think my friend has quarantined long enough to be sitting with 6 people driving in a van to our location unmasked as well as in the hotel room. Would you go on this trip?

529 Plan VERSUS Prepaid

We live in Florida and currently have a Freshman in High School and a 16 month old. We hear from our friends and family with college bound children "I wish we would have done Florida PrePaid." Does anyone have recommendations on which plan to go with for each child? I once did the pros and cons on a whiteboard and it seemed like 529 was better.
