Closer to 32 weeks… but yes you absolutely need to speak up and say no. The business model of consulting will take everything you can give.
I was in a similar situation as you it seems. It didn’t ever slow down, if anything it got busier because I had a new manager and was trying to train my team on what I do. I ended up going into labor 2 weeks early. Not sure if it was correlated lol.
It didn’t, but I guess I didn’t expect it to except for no travel the last 8 weeks. With my second baby I took three days off before he was born to have time off with my first alone (was hoping for a week but baby came a few days early), but I actually worked normally until then. With all my other kids I worked until I went into labor to have as much PTO for after.
I didn’t feel like anyone took advantage of me though and it sounds like that’s different.
It didn't for me but I wanted to save all my leave for once baby arrived.
I put together a transition memo in advance and updated it daily just in case but I worked until I went into labor and was just as busy.
Def advocated for myself, and also, my extremely swollen ankles spoke to my manager without me having to do so. (This was not at Delta). I had also switched to a European company before I knew I wanted to try to get pregnant, and this turned out to be a very wise move. I got a lot more accommodations simply from having a non-American boss. He thought the American HR recommendations were ridiculous, which we all know, they are. He let me work from home completely for the last 4-6 weeks, so I got a lot more walking in, which was the only thing that gave me any relief. Even my doctor told me he rarely sees people looking that good at that stage of pregnancy. It was bc it was clear I needed to be at home.
I worked late the night before my scheduled c-section. So…. Never.
