Which is better a “senior consultant” at EY or “Project Manager” at a local large organization? I’m currently a business analyst and recently k was offered a promotion to Project Manager. Meanwhile, I got another offer from EY as a Senior Consultant My current company are willing to match EY offer and they want me to stay. Part of me wants to join EY as it’s a big name on the resume and I can learn a lot from it BUT another part of me wants the PM and comfort zone in my current job. Thanks

My personal opinion is that a) senior consultant sounds better and b) EY is always a good name to have on your CV. I think WLB is definitely an issue...but I would argue that it's a temporary thing. You can stay for a year or two, grind it out, make some money and go back to a comfier org with a higher salary potentially. No role is forever IMO so take the better opportunity and you can turn it into something better later

In my experience, pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone is always the better option. Especially if it's with EY.

like

Hmmm, what is you desired career trajectory? Those are kind of two different fields? Personally, I'm not a fan of EY's culture but that's just because I highly value my WLB

like

That's a tough one. Really depends on your values - WLB, culture.

Partners. Were there stages in your career (Analyst, Consultant, Manager, etc) where you felt things weren’t clicking and that maybe consulting wasn’t for you? What did you do to get over the hump and still find a way to Partner? I have a family visit coming up next week that is looking likely to conflict with a major client deadline. I’ve canceled my fair share of vacations for this job, but after a year+ of pandemic isolation, loss and nonstop work, this one is a big deal — I need to be present for my family for just these couple of days. Any ideas for how to frame this to the client? In house lawyers, is there an acceptable way your outside counsel could handle this situation? I am feeling so sad and stressed.

Work life balance should not be more than 50-60 hours a week but it was with a former micromanaging boss. I also have a toddler with most of the responsibilities
