Who here feels like the new 100k is equivalent to 70k nowadays? It feels as though with the rise in prices everything is getting more expensive and our dollar is looking weaker every year.

There's no argument here. Things are more expensive. And we are in a consumer culture. The sooner you personally adjust how you interact to the consumption based lifestyle the better. Taking a walk in nature, talking with friends, learning a physical craft can all be done with a much smaller $ footprint than anything you need to buy to consume.
Read more books. Ask more questions. Get out of the consumption addiction loop.

I totally agree. I like doing thinks that doesn’t cost much money like walks.

I don't even know that I would say it is as high as 70k in todays economy. Inflation has caused everything to go up so high. Plus you have to think of the tax bracket someone making 100k is in. Its sad that in this economy people making 100k are barely getting by. I used to consider that a very high salary.

like

I hate inflation! Thanks for the insight!

It's rough, that's true. Some things, like rent and insurance, have really gotten out of hand. I make an effort to be thrifty, and I realize there are so many things we spend money on these days that were never an issue before. Even things like TV, by the time you subscribe to a few streaming channels and pay for broadband, you're paying more than what the typical cable bill was years ago. My strategy is to stay cheap, but there's only so much you can economize on, sorry to say.

like

Yes!! I think insurance is just a scam at this point because it’s so expensive!

I saved more on 80k 5 years ago than I do today on 105k.

Perhaps lifestyle and expense creep - but the level of stress has increased too. I don't expect a pay rise.

Is bank interest riba?

I have been researching into this these days and there is literature that shares how lending worked in pre-Islamic Arabia. When the time to pay back a loan came, the lender would ask "would you pay or will you increase?" And that increase was usually doubling the loan. Subsequently ever year the loan wasn't paid it was doubled from the previous year.

What is everyone’s take on the NYC housing market? More people and businesses are moving out. I’d imagine it has to continue to dip. Also, they’re considering turning adding more units by converting commercial space into residential space. Inventory is going to be through the roof for rentals. I’d think that has to ultimately impact home prices.

New Jersey partnership question.

Partnerships need to use market sourcing for purposes of calculating NR withholding tax (though NJ doesn't even call this withholding anymore).

However, for purposes of calculating the NJ distributive share of income, you apply Gross Income Tax (personal income tax) rules, which is 3 factor and includes COP.

If I end up with 0% apportionment under GIT and 10% apportionment under CBT (withholding tax), the partnership pays tax upfront but NRs get 100% refund?
