I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

My wife started as an M at Accenture earlier this year coming from industry. I’ve never worked at Accenture or any b4, but I had to explain to her how up or out works. She also didn’t know that she came in with 24 months at level and what that meant. Really surprised none of this was communicated during hiring or by her manager.
Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

Hah... well - if you sober up and realize you'd like to take a look elsewhere ... airlineloungereject@gmail.com is happy to have a look at your resume
As a manager I think that's hard. Any advice? I mean I will do what it takes to deliver for our clients, but there is a difference between a crunch time and just taking advantage of staff so partners that couldn't sell work at a reasonable price look good on their metrics
Maybe switch to a group that respects your life more...?
Tried to say no. Pre-scheduled meetings with client that leadership refused to move even though data was delayed over a month and a multitude of other issues. said no was told they don't care I will find a way.. This is not new it's the people I work with
Sounds like you need to learn how to say no.
Maybe don't set the precedent that you're willing to only sleep 9.5 hours/week? Or make timelines less aggressive?
I would literally pay money to be rolled off --- so over it. Ps. Top performer 1 - 2 ratings the whole time I have worked here.
I'm truly sorry. That's a horrible excuse for "leadership".
EY is hiring in healthcare. Send your resume here: fishbowl.referral@gmail.com
@EY1 Are y'all hiring in change management or data science?
K1, yes we want folks in CM too. Send your resume.
Dude you need to push back on both the client and your superiors - your lack of sleep is partly your fault
What industry?
Have done life sciences and health care. 4.5 years consulting, MBA, also experience in internal ops prior to consulting. Really could do work in a lot of industries
.... but what industry group are you now....?
@Accenture I am aligned to S&O, Service Operations, Life Sciences and Health Care
And your location?
Would relocate almost anywhere right now
I feel for you OP. My arm has almost come off constantly over-delivering
We're also hiring in life sciences if you'd be interested I'd be happy to connect you with that team.
