Who was at Accenture and went to Slalom? Why did you make the move? Is comp the same, on par, or better than Accenture? How about PTO, still only 14 days? How is the work? Career progression?

Thanks for the insight - what would you say Slalom "does best," do you think Strategy is going to turn into something, or stick more to bread and butter (whatever that is). Do you get siloed in a specialty their, like you do at Accenture?

like

I wanted more control over my projects.
Comp is on par or better on a straight comparison.
It is exponentially better if you do an hour for hour comparison.
Pto is 17 days per year + 1 floating day. Goes up 1 day per year of service up to 25 days of pto

Work is good. I am happy
Career progression is what you make it. There is no min or max time at level. So people happily stay at their level for whatever time they want.

We arent about levels here....so if you want the promo its because you want to do that levels work

I describe it as having a "major" / "minor" type of role. You'll be on a dedicated team (delivery leadership, analytics, crm). Inside of your team, people with similar interests tend to clump together (ie DL folks who focus on data analytics)

like

SC2 - That sounds AWESOME

like

Is Slalom only tech / implementation work?

@pwc1....i got eaten??? Ate???

@pwc2 no but our strategy and ops practice is new and still trying to figure out their role

Biggest thing here is that you do not get siloed here. I am for the first time ever doing cross specialty solutions. That part is awesome. If i have a great idea i can work w people in other groups to help me create it.

But to answer your question. You will be part of a silo but you can try projects in other areas.

Foreign LLM student here. I plan to take the NY bar exam in February. I’m thinking of taking a bar prep course (most likely Barbri). They offer two options: the “traditional” course (which lasts around 2.5 months) and an extended 6-month course. The difference in price is substantial – 2.5k for the traditional course vs 6k for the extended one. Any thoughts/recommendations on which one I should take? In case it is helpful, I come from a civil law country. Thanks!

Hi 👋 Any good UX books for senior designer level that helps with strategy, and good frameworks, or anything that will help me with my thought process? I have the basic books like don’t make me think, and 100 things. I’ll be joining a startup soon as chief designer, and will be back to being a full stack designer — I’ve been an IC for the past few years, so I definitely need to improve on strategies and maybe frameworks when it comes to UX. Will appreciate any suggestions. Thanks! 🙏🏻

Higher offers at 27-28 with more fixed pay is from contract and hire/fire type companies. Mostly indirect hiring instead of direct employment with the final employer, means higher pay with lower jon security - we get little more pay, companies get the option to let go with ease later!

Hi all,
I’m currently working for a small technical consulting start-up firm. I make good money, have great benefits, and they seem very happy with the work I’m doing, so I know I could move up quickly. However, tech consulting is definitely not my dream job. I want to get into data analytics, and I have an offer from a big company to do just that. I’ve only been at my current company for about 8 months, but I don’t ever see myself loving this job. How do I know when it’s time to make a change?
