Why do people talk about an underrepresentation of women in finance / consulting? If anything don't women hold all the cards? 90%+ of the industry gatekeepers (headhunters) are women. Look up the websites of CPI, Henkel, or Amity. If they don't tell you about new searches or pass your resume, good luck getting seen by PE firms, hedge funds, or family offices. These searches are never posted online. Oh and if you're not MBB they won't respond . HHs are the ones pushing pedigree 🎓 & privilege 👑

Me knowing I do not meet most of the qualifications for this position has my imposter syndrome thinking I shouldn’t even do this interview because it would be a waste of time. So I have a felony. I interviewed with a recruiter today who was super cheerful and nice. Once I disclosed my felony, which she already knew about since a friend referred me to her, she immediately stopped the interview and said she couldn’t in good faith move forward on my application given the nature of my offense. I explained that I had done my time, paid my fines and restitution and had the experience to become a great asset to the organization. -she suggested I look into bartending.
