Aside from the normal baby registry stuff, what are the best financial gifts people can give? For example: savings bond. Can you open a brokerage account to add to? What are some cool smart things you’ve seen or done?

My 529 plan allowed me to set up a gift dashboard so others could contribute easily - I asked the grandparents to do this for birthdays, Christmas, etc in lieu of buying toys and other material items

I had no idea this was a thing!

529 is probably the easiest. What is the recipient's relation to you?

I think they're setting up a registry to have others give to.

Grandparents and coworkers often ask, are you registered? Or do you have something set up for the child?

It's good to have options for people!

Please don’t do a savings bind. Much higher returns out there. This is just a ploy to get gov rev at low interest

I remember when savings bonds were actually a thing. Are people still getting those ?? Apparently, you can buy them a vending machine lol. I’ve been seeing this online a lot lately.

I'm in Canada and we invest via RESPs for the kids and the grands and family friends like contributing to those. They usually send cash and we deposit from our account.

That said for registries, register for Amazon gift cards, diapers, grocery store or drug store gift cards. Don't forget to register for the minimalist things you want - even if more expensive (we were able to get our top pick carseat from coworkers at work because it was on the registry). We also registered for things we wanted but would never pay retail for: onesies, bouncer.

I'm going to accept an offer that's 150k+🎉 I'm a single filer, no kids. I'll be able to max out: 401k, HSA, but from my understanding, I will not qualify to utilize IRA? Aside from building a 6-month emergency fund (HYSA), what are potential next investment vehicles? I do know I want to start purchasing real estate for cash flow. But what about mega-backdoor Roth IRA? I'll admit, I still need to read more on it.

Just curious what investment vehicles you're using to get to FIRE.

I’m guessing it could take me to 170ish with that schools I’m looking at but wondering if the 40-50 retirement range makes an mba not make sense since I’d only have 10-20 years to save vs 12-22.

Would have to finance the whole thing myself. Current net worth is 140k. Thoughts?
