I miss Delta. Anyone racking up the MQMs?
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

What I want my life to look like... white picket fences with beach sunsets. Ahhhh it’s so dreamy!
I live in Marina del Rey, on the beach, right next to Venice beach in Los Angeles. It's my choice, I love living here. If I were to go to my office location, it'd be a 20 min drive, but it's not necessary, I work from home on Fridays. I'm 15 minutes to LAX which means I avoid all "LA traffic" it's the best of both worlds, I cannot think of anywhere better to live. It's definitely not unique to my firm, I've worked for 3 firms now, and my current firm I boomerang'd back to. So, no, it's not unique, I just say at the beginning, "I'm out of the LA office" and they never dispute that, they make it happen. Although just out of business school I was hired into the DC office (2 firms ago) then after 11.5 months, I relocated to Los Angeles. It caused a lot of drama, but I worked through it and made it happen.
More than 40 percent of deloitte partners operate out of Miami
What's stopping you? If you're at Deloitte, you could align to San Diego, Orange County, or Los Angeles. Plenty of options available, and that's just Southern California.
I live closer to the beach than I do the office. #tampabay
Travel weekly, I'm a manager. It's a 90 minute drive to the airport.
Because you have to live within 90 mins of your office
I do! 🙋🏽
PwC gives you a hard time about. They want everyone near the nyc office
^^^ @M1 How’d you do it? Do you think it’s unique to your firm?
P1- uh, then why do we have all these “markets”? Just cuz you’re a sheeple doesn’t make it the firm’s fault.
^^^Good for you @D3!! My firm doesn’t have my practice in Tampa / San Diego / Miami office.
Overarching question remains. Why do we live by our offices? And how often do folks actually make it in to your home office?
Clearwater beach was the second option that came to mind? Smh
I live in the mountains in Colorado (Vail area). PwC has no problem with this.
That’s great!! Love it. That’s my #aspiration. Just wondering why this isn’t more prevalent in our field. Happy for you!
Miami and San Diego have offices.... 🙄
@P2 That’s awesome. Which level?
P2 - do you travel much? Seems like that would be hard due to airport
