Hello Gang, I’m on the business side for Walmart right now. Walmart Global Tech recently offered me a role to move to the San Bruno office, but I’d be taking a demotion from L6 to E5. YOE: 8, COMP(200k base, 25% bonus, 100k RSU). Is this competitive in the bay? I have Doordash and Instacart in the pipeline, but no final offers yet.
DFW area - when will the rain stopppppp?

Couldn’t agree more. This is a very “meh” city and am excited to leave it as well
I agree. I moved here from washington dc and feel the same way. I think its a city for families/retirees and thats it
Weirdo complaints.
Always seems the same people, yet no one leaves their house. Huh?
Tourist visiting a downtown area
Homeless people.
Teenagers outside.
These are issues in any city. Sounds like you just wanted to complain.
And?
This is the shittiest city in the US and its not actually " a city"
Why not move?
Well, since I'm not looking for a scene nor vusut malls, none of that really bothers me. I like being away from the hustle and bustle of Austin and all of the people crowded into events. San Antonio gives me an area to breathe in. Each neighborhood has everything you need, from groceries and cinemas to parks and libraries. Most places you can still spot deer, foxes, and other wildlife around. It may not be for everyone, but it's my home, and it suits me. I suppose if you want to be artsy or spend too much at the mall, then moving might be in your future if you have not already left.
All the malls are all teenagers, and I dunno about downtown, I hardly go there.
I completely agree. I've lived in Austin, Atlanta, Buffalo and Singapore. San Antonio by far has the worst food scene and lacks the unique charms of any of those cities... Instead of people asking what's wrong with it, I feel like people should prove what is good and endearing about it.
It has a great food scene if you only like tacos.
Just move. Every city has its pros and cons, Houston has more pros than Austin, in my opinion, yet I know people who have moved from there to SA and loved the laid back attitude here. I like Austin. It's got a huge homeless issue there also, what metro doesn't? I'm an SA native, and do think about moving elsewhere for a change of pace. However, that's on me to do that in my own time. If the environment you are in is annoying because you're seeing the same things over and over its either your going to the same places over and over (branch out), going to the same places as teens (seriously, not every place in downtown has teens swamping it unless you're going to the same stuff they are around like a club or Riverwalk), or you're not opening your group of friends to get introduced to new things. There's litetally still places and events here in SA that I've never gone to. I'm still considering a move, maybe a coastal city or Denver area. You just need to go find the right place for yourself rather than being unhappy with the place you are at.
A family member of mine goes to Vegas a few times a year 😂🤣😂 it’s brutal out here
Leave. Quit complaining.
Trust some are here because we have to be Lolol
Just was a about to echo ACN 1, it literally is. It’s not the city to be young, wild and free lol.
I wish there was a small comedy scene in the area.
Hahahahha. I am getting pinged every comment too 🙂
@BA1 - I moved. Just letting know the reality and my frustrations
I'm here for like 4 years until I can get my golden handcuffs off 😀
I couldn't agree more to this. Downtown is infested with teenagers.
Ummm ... What city doesn't have teens downtown?
Honestly I just don't think San Antonio has the thriving scene that we think it does. A lot of families shave moved in and I definitely think there's been a mass exodus of young people to more happening places like austin. Plus San Antonio doesn't really have a distinctive culture or feel that people are gonna flock to
SDS 1, what’s “thriving scene“ are you looking for?
I agree, I was soo sad when I had to move back here from Houston! It’s just as lame as I thought it was when I first left. Only thing that keeps me here is my family. I’m going back to Houston the first chance I get once my kids are a bit older.
What other cities have you spent significant time in?
What things do you wish you could find in a city that SA is missing?
Mainly San Diego, Austin, and Houston
There is a small yet thriving comedy scene! On Fridays and Saturdays, I recommend Comedy Sportz San Antonio (also known as Studio 185) or the Overtime Theatre! There are constantly shows going on.
Yea but again if you compare it to Austin's comedy scene, it's nothing. Also I'm going to assume anyone that is good would be traveling to Austin to go to Mothership, creek and cave, sunset, Vulcan, etc.
