Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

Right….and 5 days from now it’ll show the worst downturn in the last decade. If you haven’t noticed, the daily swings are dramatic with the overall pattern showing a downturn. I don’t know about you, but my 401k certainly reflects that ….a huge drop and every gain made in the last 3 years was wiped out.
No
Edit: sorry that screenshot is wrong…the marker is up much higher than that
Nobody can provide you “real world input” because this magical “downturn” doesn’t exist in the real world
Tech is surging. Is this the “downturn” in tech you’re referring to?
Public sector is the safest one
Portfolio wise, I’m heavy on materials & staple CPGs, and have shied away from finance & tech. My 2c is a bubble is on the horizon for those 2 sectors
Anecdotally my CPG client does well during financial downturn
