Colleague has put in his resignation. They are offering him whatever he wants to stay including 4days a week work from home. He’s not bluffing and plans to leave. However, at this same time I was asked to begin working as a supervisor for the engineering team and I would get a promotion at the beginning of the year. I have been supervising and managing our team of 6 for months with no extra pay or bonuses. I was told yesterday that raises will be light this year. Yet today they spare nothing.

I just received my property tax bill for the new year and I'm still locked into the senior exemption. Can someone point me to some material where I can read about profit sharing vs 401k. I get the concept, but I am trying to understand is 10% profit sharing vested over 5 years better than an employee 401k match of 6%?

From my understanding 10% PS is better because it’s just a standard 10% on top of whatever I contribute though it takes 5 years to vest. Does this mean if I leave before 5 years I don’t get any of it?

Is 2k too big of a gift for a new friend (<4 months)? I went on vacation with my sons and a new friend and her son for a week. I put the hotel and amusement park tickets on my card for simplicity.
