Would a CPA opens doors for someone with 16 years of experience in Finance and Accounting, MBA in Finance and wants to transition into a controller role? Currently back in school to complete the 150 credits and sit for the CPA.

I don’t think so. 16 YOE should be plenty to be a controller if you have the skillset, and if you don’t a license won’t really help you outside of maybe getting your resume seen

Don’t need 150 hours anymore for many states and the rest may follow soon, so I would not waste time on the added schooling and instead focus on sitting for the exams. I think the license will help. Lots of jobs essentially have a CPA requirement, which is silly IMO, but that’s the market.

like

Can you sit in a state that doesn’t require 150 and use your experience to get licensed?

My dilemma… I am an injury adjuster at a carrier experiencing high inventory that’s barely manageable. A competitor offered a higher salary and manageable workload. BUT, I would like to get into underwriting. I applied for UW position w/ a different carrier and they’ve made an offer. It’s lower than my current salary and significantly lower than what I’d make by taking the first offer. Do I take the high salary and stay in claims or go for UW in hopes it will be best in long run?

I’m reviewing my resume getting ready to start my job search and have a question for recruiters, hiring managers. I’m looking for a role brand-side not agency side. Specialist roles aside, such as digital, when you see someone describing themselves as a “generalist marketer” is this a resume you’d pass on? My past roles have been such that I do a lot of marketing projects, tasks etc. but I’m not a specialist. I’m worried if I use this terminology I won’t even be considered for a role. Thank you

As a mid-senior level associate in litigation/investigations/arbitration, do you feel like what you’re currently doing is actually holding you back in terms of professional/personal development? We spend so much time going over the nittiest and grittiest of details that I feel like I’m not actually learning anything new anymore or expanding my skill set. I work in a super lean team and as a 6th year I’m still doing a lot of the grunt work. Is this normal?

Are you responsible for giving performance feedback? Avoid giving personality based feedback. Examples include telling an Asian person they are too quiet/shy or telling a Black person they are agressive/abrasive. DO NOT DO THIS. It clearly represents bias in Performance Management. Performance feedback should be tied to business outcomes with clear examples of what the person does well + how they can improve.
