I know someone who did something similar and they look like they’re having a blast! There’s usually a pretty small/tight knit expat community in places like that, and people travel around together. Akin to studying abroad since you’re all in the same boat,
If this year has taught me anything it’s that you can do anything for a year. I didn’t expect to be stuck at home for the last 9 months, yet here we are. Why not try something different in another country?
I don’t think it’ll hurt your career and worst thing would be you just come back.
I spent much of my career as a writer and CD overseas with name brand agencies - in Asia, the Middle East, the UK. Worth it. Best experience you could have to get new perspectives on different cultures and how they inform your work.
It all depends on your book. If the Emirates job yields nothing book worthy, actively build spec or work on a side project. This also assumes the visa situation in the US doesn’t apply to ya and you can return whenever.
Might as well do it now while the city is in a slump. You won’t be missing anything. When you return, the city should be just getting back on its feet.
